Cold-pressed virgin hazelnut oil is a separate, rarer market, the unrefined version of which is massively undervalued. The oil in mass distribution is almost exclusively refined, solvent or press, then decolorized, deodorized, neutralized. It has lost tocopherols, phytosterols, phenolic compounds and amber color.
